Each quarter, Kohl’s sells special “products” with 100% of the net profits donated to designated children’s hospitals and educational initiatives nationwide. These products are typically children’s books and corresponding plush items sold for $5.00 at retail.
Take a look at Logistix’ excellent work on behalf of this program in stores now!
RESULTS:
• Sold 1.9 million total plush in our recent Spring ’07 win. The plush combination includes a rhino, dog, chicken, and pig.
• The spring program is projected to raise over $7,000,000 for Kohl’s Cares for Kids. (The program is in-store until May 2007)
CHALLENGE:
• Increase Kohl’s charitable contributions to children’s health and educational opportunities nationwide.
• Identify appropriate properties to fit the Kohl’s program; design plush to meet and exceed expectations.
• Goal: to bring ‘A-List’ properties into the mix.
INSIGHTS:
• The success of Kohl’s Cares for Kids’ program is attributed to a mix of “classic” children’s literary authors and entertainment properties.
• Award-winning author Sandra Boynton is one of America’s most beloved authors of children’s books; best known for her board books and recognizable characters
• Value-Added marketing will be integral to making this program a success.
EXPLANATION OF PROGRAM:
• Logistix worked with Sandra Boynton to develop custom-designed and high-valued plush and with Workman Publishing on the books.
• To generate exposure for the program, Logistix (in conjunction with Workman Publishing,) organized three book signings by Sandra Boynton at Kohl’s corporate headquarters, and stores in Milwaukee and Los Angeles.
• Along with the help of Goddard Riverside, Logistix organized “Boynton Rocks: A Musical Celebration for Kohl’s Cares for Kids” where100 underprivileged kids were invited to Chelsea Piers to enjoy an evening of live music (by Davy Jones and the Phenomenauts,) face painting, photos within the “dog train”, food and refreshments.
